Born in Paris, on 14 November 1840. He was one of the founders of the French impressionist painting and he does plein-air landscape painting. He adopted a method of painting the same scene numerous time in order to catch the change in light and the passing of seasons.

Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant), 1872; the painting that gave its name to the style. Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris
       Impression, Sunrise - 1872
This painting also gave his painting style its name of impression.

It inspires me that how painting can look so realistic and also picture a scene at different times.
