Kay Sage (Katherine Linn Sage)

Katherine Linn Sage, usually known as Kay Sage, was an American Surrealist artist and poet. She was active between the years of 1936 and 1963, the year she committed suicide. One of the reasons why i love her work is the fact that she uses similar colours for her paintings and there is a pop of colour in the main object. Also , the simplicity behind the fine lines and geometrical shapes used .I like the fact that the paintings are not loud and attention seeking but still has a strong impact on the viewer and leaves a space for much thought. Not only that but i like how her works are subtle and calming at the same time powerful enough to make you ponder and think even deeper about the meaning and message behind the paintings.
